Ik schreef en illustreerde het kinderboek 'Ik vaar naar waar ik wil' voor de Marco Poloschool en bouwde in de schoolgangen decors van de belangrijkste fragmenten uit het boek. De decors versmelten met de wanden van de school. De kunstwerken zijn ook te gebruiken als tentoonstellingsmeubel maar in gesloten toestand wordt het feit dat er even niets te tonen is, niet onnodig benadrukt.
In de Marco Polo Basisschool in de Utrechtse wijk Kanaaleiland wordt hard gewerkt om kinderen van hoofdzakelijk allochtone afkomst concrete vaardigheden voor de toekomst bij te brengen. Er is regelmatig te weinig tijd voor activiteiten die de fantasie stimuleren. Toch is het vermogen om iets te zien wat er nog niet is, van cruciaal belang voor je toekomst.
